On making stuff up.

A little e-mail discussion with a friend today made me think about this.

I love how people say that the priesthood ban for people of African descent was part of the church because they wanted to avoid persecution and political backlash.

That is a load of freaking baloney because…let’s not forget polygamy and the MASSIVE persecution us Mormons faced because of THAT. But the church was all, “This is totally worth it! Because law of Heaven, etc.”

So we can’t take the stance that it was allll a big PR move so that the church didn’t look bad (?!) to refuse people the priesthood based on race because in OTHER things, we didn’t care the heck about what other people thought of us.
